As part of its 30th International WebAward Competition, the Web Marketing Association at www.webaward.org is in search of the world’s elite Science websites. This competition, defining benchmarks for 86 sectors, including Science, judges sites on seven essential success criteria. Science websites must submit entries by May 29, 2026.
“In the scientific community, a website is a primary vehicle for sharing discovery, data, and collaboration,” stated William Rice, President of the Web Marketing Association. “Research institutions, laboratories, and scientific organizations must communicate complex findings with clarity while ensuring data integrity, accessibility compliance, grant transparency, and global collaboration tools. Today’s science websites often integrate open-access publications, interactive datasets, multimedia explainers, funding disclosures, and secure portals for researchers and partners. In an era where public trust in science and accurate information is paramount, digital precision and credibility are critical. The WebAward Competition provides scientific organizations and their development teams with an objective evaluation against industry benchmarks, along with the high-visibility distinction of being recognized as an ‘Award-Winning Website.’ That recognition strengthens institutional reputation, enhances global discoverability, supports funding efforts, and validates leadership in advancing scientific knowledge through exceptional digital execution.”
Science Websites are assessed on seven essential aspects: design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copy writing and ease of use. Each entry in the Science category is evaluated in comparison to its category counterparts and then to a broad standard of excellence.
Every Science participant receives constructive feedback, with an evaluation of their scores against the industry standard. They also have the opportunity to obtain specific feedback from the WebAward’s panel of judges on their web development.
Winners of a WebAward in the Science category will also receive:
- Increased visibility for their company
- Marketing opportunity to promote the company website to the media
- Links to your site from the highly ranked WebAward site to help SEO
- Social media posts for your company and personal feeds
- A highlight for your resume.
- Admiration of peers, friends and co-workers
- Unlimited bragging rights
Each year the Web Marketing Association names the Best Science Website based on the scores submitted by the competition judges.
