The Web Marketing Association’s 30th annual WebAward Competition, hosted at www.webaward.org, seeks to honor the best bank websites globally. This standards-defining event benchmarks 86 industries, including banking, credit union, insurance, investment, mutual funds, financial services, cryptocurrency and blockchain websites, based on seven criteria of website success. Entries for financial-related websites are due by May 29, 2026.
“In today’s banking environment, a financial institution’s website is often the first and most important touchpoint for building trust,” stated William Rice, President of the Web Marketing Association. “Customers expect secure, mobile-first experiences, seamless digital account opening, real-time support, personalized financial tools, and transparent communication — all while institutions must meet strict regulatory, privacy, and cybersecurity requirements. Banking websites must balance innovation with compliance, delivering frictionless user journeys without compromising data protection. The WebAward Competition provides banks and financial institutions with an objective evaluation against industry benchmarks, along with the powerful visibility of being recognized as an ‘Award-Winning Website.’ That distinction enhances credibility, reinforces consumer trust, strengthens SEO presence, and validates the institution’s commitment to digital excellence in a highly competitive financial marketplace.”
The appraisal of bank websites covers seven areas: design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copy writing and ease of use. Each entry in the bank category is evaluated alongside similar bank entries and then to a universal standard of web excellence.
Websites are judged on seven criteria including design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copy writing and ease of use. Each WebAward entry in the bank category is judged against other banking entries and then against an overall standard of excellence.
Participants in the bank category are rewarded with valuable feedback, showing where their scores stand compared to the averages in their industry. They also have the chance to receive particular feedback from the WebAward’s judging panel on their website development efforts.
Winners of a WebAward in the bank category will also receive:
- Increased visibility for their company
- Marketing opportunity to promote the company website to the media
- Links to your site from the highly ranked WebAward site to help SEO
- Social media posts for your company and personal feeds
- A highlight for your resume.
- Admiration of peers, friends and co-workers
