About the Client

Friends of the Observatory (FOTO) is the fund-raising arm of the Los Angeles based Griffith Observatory, the largest public and educational observatory in the world. FOTO helped raise 2/3 of the money required to support the multi-year renovation that brought the Griffith Observatory into the 21st Century. FOTO has also raised enough money from the website members to fully subsidize educational fields trips to the Griffith Observatory for Los Angeles’s most underserved school children. On June 15, with the FOTO website re-launch, their site also became the go-to destination for the public, not just FOTO members, (who find the City of Los Angeles Griffith Observatory website lacking in the needed up-to-the minute content required to plan a trip to the Observatory). With newly added content such as walking tours (and soon podcasts), astronomy experiments for families to try at home and videos of upcoming educational lectures, FOTO is committed to give even more back to Los Angeles as it suffers through an unprecedented budget crises.
