The Museum set five key objectives for the 20th anniversary to:
• Raise awareness of the Museum and its educational outreach and genocide prevention efforts
• Inspire Museum supporters to carry forward the Holocaust’s lessons and to make a commitment to ensuring the future of the Museum and Holocaust education
• Position the Museum as an institution rooted in the truth about the past and relevant to the issues of today, dealing with critical issues of the time
• Launch the Museum’s comprehensive fundraising campaign to secure the future
• Honor the Museum’s most powerful teachers –survivors and World War II veterans – in Washington D.C., and to reach out to them in their own local communities.
