NATIONAL PARK FOUNDATION LEADERSHIP SUMMIT SITE
On October 14, 2007, the National Park Foundation (NPF) convened its first Leadership Summit to raise national awareness about the growing need to fund and provide stewardship over our national parks, and create opportunities for public-private partnerships over the next century. The summit served as an opportunity to strengthen the network of support for our national parks, explore the changing roles of parks in our society, and consider strategies for future partnership among corporate executives, philanthropists, foundation directors, park professionals, government officials, educators, and experts. Topics that were discussed included the role of parks in health and wellness, community engagement and volunteerism, sustainability, conservation, preservation and stewardship. The Leadership Summit was invitation only, but the NPF wanted to create a conference Web site that will not only be an online destination for conference attendees, but that will also engage the American people to raise their voices and be part of this important, national dialogue.
